High Performance Film Distribution, Fabrication and TEFLON® Coating

DYKOR® coatings manufactured by Whitford® Corporations are available as both solvent borne dispersions and powders for thick film applications for use in the chemical processing industry. DYKOR® coatings can be formulated from PVDF, FEP, or PFA resins. DYKOR® PVDF coatings are available as either a solvent borne liquid for difficulty geometries and tight tolerance applications or as a powder to facilitate thick film builds up to 40 mils. Because PVDF is not a fully fluorinated polymer, it exhibits desirable increase in mechanical properties over PTFE, FEP, or PFA and can be a more economical choice for protecting chemical processing equipment from corrosion. DYKOR® 200 series PVDF coatings also have a long and well documented history in the medical industry as an electrically insulating coating that is autoclavable.

DYKOR® FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene copolymer) nonstick coatings melt and flow during baking to provide nonporous films. These coatings provide excellent chemical resistance. In addition to low friction, DYKOR® FEP coatings have excellent nonstick properties. Maximum use temperature is 204°C/400°F. DYKOR® is available in powder form.

Like FEP, PFA (perfluoroalkoxy) nonstick coatings melt and flow during baking to provide nonporous films. DYKOR® PFA offers the additional benefits of higher continuous use temperature (260°C/500°F), film thicknesses up to 1,000 micrometers (40 mils), and greater toughness than PTFE or FEP. This combination of properties makes DYKOR® PFA an excellent choice for a wide variety of uses, especially those involving chemical resistance. DYKOR® PFA is available in powder forms. Special formulations of DYKOR® PFA powder for high release applications are available.
